Depending on your specific topic, you may find
resources listed on the subject pages for
News, Weather, and Sports,
General/Multidisciplinary,
Political Science, and
Government
Publications to be
useful in addition to the resources listed below.
The following databases/indexes are designed to provide links to
online resources. To find books, you will need to consult the
Hiram College Library
Catalog and, perhaps, the
OhioLINK catalog.
1. Databases/indexes to find
periodical articles - These databases are designed to
help you identify relevant periodical articles through keyword or
subject searches. In most cases there will be links to either
the online version of the article or a listing of the library's
holdings. If you are not sure, you may check the library's
periodical
holdings list and/or its
list of
online journals. These databases are listed in the order
in which the library recommends them.
NOTE: A number of these databases may be searched at the same time
using the Current Events articles option for OhioLINK's
Quick
Search.

2.
Databases/indexes of newspapers - These databases provide
the text of newspaper articles from many newspapers. Unlike
individual newspaper web sites, these databases almost always store
many years' worth of a newspaper's articles, thus giving you a
back-file of stories on a current events topic.

5. Other
databases - Each of these databases tends to serve a
different purpose. CQ Researcher gives you a good
summary of both sides of an issue, while Accunet/AP Multimedia
Archives gives you photos, images, and news sent over the
Associated Press wire. World Almanac and World Data
Analyst give you quick facts and statistics. CIAO is a
international affairs database.
