I have been the Library Director at Hiram College since July 1998.  In that capacity, I am responsible for the Library's day-to-day operations, overseeing its budget, and planning the Library's future.  I also do reference work, serve as the Library's webmaster, and act as liaison to a number of academic departments.  I have published nearly a dozen articles professional papers in library journals such as Online, Database, and Library Journal.

Before coming to Hiram, I worked for eleven years at the duPont-Ball Library at Stetson University in deLand, FL.  For most of those years, I served as Associate Director for Public Services.  Prior to that, I worked for three years as a Reference/Interlibrary Loan Librarian at the Everett Needham Case Library at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. 

Other jobs I have had include managing a retail book store, selling stereo equipment (back when they all had turntables!), and five summers with the U.S. Forest Service at the Sheridan Ranger District of the Beaverhead National Forest (now the Beaverhead - Deer Lodge National Forest).   In that job, I did such varied tasks as building fence, maintaining backcountry trails as half of a two person trail crew, and fighting several small forest fires.

A native Ohioan, I graduated from Defiance High School.  I earned a B.A., with a major in history and a minor in government, from Centre College (Danville, KY).  I have a M.A. in history of the American West from Montana State University (Bozeman, MT).  My M.L.S. (Masters in Library Science) is from the School of Information Studies, Syracuse University.

Away from work, I am a real sports enthusiast.  I enjoy playing tennis and basketball.  I am also a big Cleveland Indians fan (I can remember when they were really bad and lucky to get several thousand fans in the stadium), as well as the Cleveland Browns.  My reading tastes tend to run to mysteries and westerns.
