These databases are designed to help you identify relevant periodical articles through keyword or subject searches. In most cases there will be links to either the online version of the article or a listing of the library's holdings. If you are not sure, you may check the library's Periodical Holdings List and/or its alphabetical list of article databases. These databases are listed in the order in which the library recommends them.
Gender Studies Database. Indexes journal articles, books, conference papers, reports, dissertations, and other materials related to women's studies, men's studies, and sexual diversity issues.
Women's Studies International. Indexes journals, newspapers, books, and other materials related to women's studies. Coverage back to the early 1970s.
Humanities International Complete. Indexes and abstracts some 1,900 periodical titles with some coverage as far back as 1925. Also indexes books, essays, reviews, and original creative work including fiction and poems.
PsycINFO. The online version of Psychological Abstracts provides indexing to articles and books chapters published worldwide from 1887 to the present.
SocIndex with Full Text. Indexes, with abstracts, 590 "core journals" back to 1895 in all fields of sociology, including anthropology, criminology, demography, and urban studies.
LGBT Life with Full Text. Indexes periodicals and books related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender issues.
Feminae: Medieval Women and Gender Index. This free to all index covers journal articles, essays in books, and book reviews about women and gender in the Middle Ages.
ISI Web of Science. Part of the Web of Knowledge platform, this is the combined database of the Science Citation Index, the Social Science Citation Index, and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index. Searchable by keyword and author, but more importantly by cited reference.
Academic Search Complete. Multidisciplinary database that indexes and abstracts some 9,300 periodicals, both popular and scholarly. Provides full-text to more than 5,300 journals.
Electronic Journal Center (EJC). Searchable, full-text issues of journals from a number of major publishers. More than 7,000 journals are available.
JSTOR. Fully searchable full-text of nearly 1,000 scholarly journals. JSTOR provides back files to the first issue of a journal, but stops 3 to 5 years before the current publication year. Covers all disciplines.
