Electronic Reserves
Faculty will often place materials such as
books, photocopies of journal articles or book chapters, or videos
"on reserve in the library." These materials are
available to be checked out for short times only (usually only 2 hours)
and often must be used in the library. This allows everyone in a
class an opportunity to use a limited number of copies of a particular
item.
Electronic (Online) Reserves
Some faculty prefer to use our electronic
reserve system (we use ERes from Docutek). In this case, the
professor should give you the password for the class. If your
class is using the electronic reserves, click
here, and look under either the course or the professor.
At that point, you will need to enter your password. Some readings
may still be in book or hard copy form and you will need to check them
out at the circulation desk in the library. In these cases, you
will still see a listing for the item in the electronic reserves with a
message that the item is available in the library.
In the Library
Traditionally, reserve materials have been kept at the circulation desk
in the library. These items are listed in the catalog and you may
search for them by Course
or by Professor.
Some items, usually videos or CDs, may be checked out from the Media
Center desk.
