A Special Visit to the Hiram College Library Archives!
We were thrilled to welcome history blogger Thomas Watson, who traveled all the way from Michigan with his wife, granddaughter, and a very special travel companion—a Thomas Jefferson bobblehead!

Joining him was Tim Garfield, the great-great-grandson of President James A. Garfield and First Lady Lucretia Garfield.

Original Garfield family lithographs
A silver water pitcher gifted to Garfield by a hose brigade during his campaign
A giant folio of newspaper clippings documenting Garfield's assassination and the trial of his assassin
An original presidential campaign pin from Garfield's 1880 campaign
A heartfelt letter written by Garfield to Hiram College (then Western Reserve Eclectic Institute) as a "farewell for now"
