Sophie McCurdy is the library’s Government Documents and Reference Intern and is a third-year English Major with a minor in Asian studies here at Hiram. In her free time, Sophie enjoys doing a variety of crafts including embroidery, painting, and making butterflies out of Ginko leaves. As an English major Sophie reads a lot of fiction so she enjoys reading more nonfiction works in her free time on a variety of subjects. One such topic she has enjoyed researching and reading about is how Native American agricultural practices have been combined with West African cooking techniques to create what we nowadays refer to as “southern food.” Sophie also wants to remind everyone of the vast amount of online databases the library has to offer, from documentaries offered through Kanopy to decades of government documents on file, there is something for everybody.
