When not in her office, Library Director Janet Vogel can be found in the Schneider Room, one of her favorite parts of the library. Originally completing her undergrad as a history major, Janet went on to get a Master’s degree in Public History and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science after working at a public library. Much of Janet’s free time is spent reading, traveling, visiting museums, and learning new things; one of her favorite topics to learn about is the history of food and in particular 20th-century food trends. As a librarian, Janet sees picking a favorite book as a difficult choice to make, though she does enjoy reading mysteries and when it comes to nonfiction, books on history as well.
Janet loves just about everything at Hiram and especially excited to watch the Men’s and Women’s wrestling teams in the coming 2021-22 school year. She loves teaching library instruction sessions and wants everyone to know that those at the library are always happy to answer questions and help in any way they can, “librarians are just regular people who like to solve puzzles and try to find information.”
