Have you saved a link from a library database for a syllabus, Moodle site, or research? If the answer is yes, that link may need to be updated!
If your link begins with "http://ezproxy.hiram.edu/login?url=", you must update it to preserve access to your materials. These links no longer function.
Procedure:
Faculty: please triple check your syllabi, especially any syllabi with a link to OneSource in the library resources section. To save yourself future hassle and updates, we recommend removing the link all together and simply linking to the library’s homepage (https://library.hiram.edu/). A search box on the library's homepage will always allow students to find OneSource quickly.
If you have any links from our catalog that begin with hiraml.hiram.edu, you will need to update them:
If you have any difficulties accessing a Permalink, please contact us.
If you try to use an old link with the old prefix, you will receive a "this site can't be reached" error after a short time. If your link does work, it will either take you directly to the resource (on campus users) or it will take you to a Hiram College login page followed by the resource (off campus users). If have any questions or are unsure whether your link is correct, please contact us at library@hiram.edu.
No problem! Just follow the steps above to change out your link to use https://login.hc.opal-libraries.org/login?url= as your link prefix.
In order to access library resources from anywhere, the library uses a proxy server to authenticate users and prove that they are associated with Hiram. This service is now managed by our consortium, OPAL, rather than a server here on campus. This was done at no extra cost and will save library and IT staff time in addition to saving money for licensing and server fees.
