About Linking

Notes About Linking to Licensed Materials

As you identify licensed materials from either the Hiram College Library or OhioLINK, you will want a permanent link to that material in order to post that link in Moodle.  The needed link can be found by looking for something like Permalink, Stable URL, or something similar.  That will give you the permanent link as links to pdfs, to the URL in the address bar, or to searches are good only for that online session.

Any link to licensed material put into Moodle should begin with https://login.hc.opal-libraries.org/login?url=.  If that is not there, you should add it with the link coming after =. (Example: https://login.hc.opal-libraries.org/login?url=https://library.hiram.edu.) This ensures off-campus users will be able to access the item using their Hiram email username and password.  On-campus users are automatically passed through without a login.

This ezproxy prefix is not necessary for open access resources.  If you have questions about how to get a permanent link, usable by off-campus users, please contact a librarian.
