Classrooms and Spaces

Mac Equipped Classroom

The Mac Equipped Classroom in the Media Center is for the academic use of students, staff and faculty only. 

Resources in the Mac Equipped Classroom include:

  • (15) iMac 7.1 with 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo processor; 2 GB RAM, 20 inch monitors running OSx 1.5.8
  • Crestron System
  • Mounted LCD Projector
  • Pull-down Screen.

In order to use the Mac Equipped Classroom please:

  • Check the schedule for the Mac Equipped posted on the door or call the front desk at 330-569-5360.
  • Schedule class time in the classroom by contacting Jennifer Stewart in the Deans office StewartJ@hiram.edu.

 

Typical Classroom Media Setup

Most classroom facilities on campus (Bates, Colton, Gerstacker, Hinsdale, Nursing Suite (in Teachout Price), Mahan House, Tree House, Writing House, and Bonney Castle) are equipped with the following multi-media equipment;

  • Ceiling-mounted LCD Projector or Wall-mounted Flat Screen TV
  • Multimedia Station (cabinet, lectern, or desk)
  • Powered or pull-down projection screen (in classrooms with LCD projectors)
  • Crestron touch screen control and processor
  • HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter), & network cables for laptop computer connection
  • Apple TV for mirroring Apple devices (iPad, MacBook, iPhone, etc.) to projection screen or flat screen TV
  • Combination DVD & VHS player
  • Sound amplifier and mounted speakers
  • Some classrooms are also equipped with a desktop computer and accessories (monitor, mouse, keyboard)

Equipment can be provided in the few locations without media if available.

Alumni Heritage Room - Teachout Price

  • For sound request, we can provide either a portable sound system, or our Portable Lectern.
  • The facility has (1) mobile multi-media carts with LCD projector, VGA (with audio adapter) & HDMI cables (for laptop computers), Apple TV & Lightning adapter (for iPads), DVD/VHS player, and (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer); and (1) Tripod Screen on site..
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup if available.

Coleman Center

  • For sound setups in the DiGirolamo Lobby area and in smaller room in the building, a portable sound system or Portable Lectern can be used.
  • For sound setups in the Martin and Fleming Field Houses; other than our portable system, we will attempt to provide an adequate sound system to meet the audio requirement for the room. Due to the difficult acoustics in each location, it is advised that an outside AV company is brought to do the sound, or that a sound system is installed.
  • Price Gym has a self-contained PA system and speakers. In most case, an additional PA setup is unnecessary.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup and/or delivered if available.

Dining Hall

  • For sound request, we can provide either a portable sound system, or our Portable Lectern.
  • The Private Dining Room(s) has a multi-media cabinet DVD/VHS player, sound amplifier, desktop computer, Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables for laptop computers, audio input & cable (for iPod, mp3 players, or smartphones) at the front of the room, which is accessed via a Crestron touch screen. The room also has a powered pull-down screen, and ceiling speakers throughout the entire room.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup if available.

East Hall

  • The East Hall Forum Room has a multi-media lectern with DVD/VHS player, sound amplifier, desktop computer, VGA (with audio adapter) & HDMI cables for laptop computers, and document camera that can be access via a Crestron touch screen, an attached microphone located on the lectern, (2) ceiling-mounted LCD projectors, (2) powered pull-down screens, (2) mounted Flat Screen TVs, (4) Apple TVs, (2) mounted speakers, and (26) conference microphones. The room also has (2) mounted video conferencing cameras used for remote video conferences, and IVDL classes with other college campuses.
  • The small classroom has a multi-media cabinet with DVD/VHS player, sound amplifier, desktop computer, Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables for laptop computers that can be accessed via a Crestron touch screen. The room also has a mounted Flat Screen TV and (2) mounted speakers.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup if available.

Frohring Music

  • The Recital Hall in the Frohring Music building has good acoustics and sound reinforcement equipment isn’t needed for their music and singing events. If a microphone is needed (for a speaker), we can provide a portable sound system.
  • The building has (2) mobile multi-media carts with LCD projector, VGA (with audio adapter) & HDMI cables for (laptop computers), Apple TVs (for iPads), DVD/VHS player, and (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer) for use in the classrooms and Recital Hall. There is also a mobile Apple TV (for iPads) than can be with either media cart.

Gelbke Fine Art Center

  • The large Lecture Hall in the Gelbke Fine Arts Center has good acoustics, as well as a stereo sound system. A portable PA system can be provided if a microphone is needed.
  •  The room also has a multi-media lectern with DVD/BluRay/VHS player, Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables for laptop computers, and document camera that can be access via the Crestron touch screen. And the room has a ceiling-mounted 4K LCD projector, (2) touch screen activated slide projectors, as well as a sound system cabinet and large mounted screen.
  • The smaller Seminar Room has a multi-media lectern with DVD/VHS player, sound amplifier, VGA cable with audio adapter for laptop computer, and (2) slide projectors that are all accessed via a touch screen. The room also has a large mounted screen.

Hayden Auditorium

  • Media Services can provide a basic microphone setup (up to 2 mics) for lectures, and convocations in Hayden. For other sound request , contact the following departments:
    • Music Department
    • Theatre Department
    • KCPB – H-Tech
  • We can provide additional multi-media equipment, although there could be difficulties setting up such items as LCD Projector, DVD/VHS player, and Laptop computers due to the auditorium’s seating and configuration. It is necessary to contact us two weeks to a month in advance in order for us to determine if we can commit to meeting the request.

Kennedy Center

  • For sound request, we can provide either the building's mobile sound equipment, a portable PA system, or our portable lectern.
  • The facility also has (4) Tripod Screens, (1) empty AV Carts, (2) mobile multi-media cart (with LCD projector, VGA & HDMI cables for laptop computers, Apple TV & Lightning adapter for iPads, DVD/VHS player, and (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer), and a mobile sound equipment (Amplifier, Audio Mixer, 2 Speakers with Stands). Other equipment can be delivered or setup if available

 

Koritansky Hall

  • For sound request, we can provide either a portable sound system, or our Portable Lectern.
  • The facility has (1) mobile multi-media carts with LCD projector, VGA (with audio adapter) & HDMI cables (for laptop computers), Apple TV & Lightning adapter (for iPads), DVD/VHS player, and (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer); and (1) Tripod Screen on site.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup if available.

Pritchard Room - Library 2nd Floor

  • The Pritchard Room has a multi-media lectern with basic multi-media equipment (DVD/VHS player, sound amplifier), Apple lightning adapter (for iPad), VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables for laptop computer) that can be access via a Crestron touch screen. The room also has a ceiling-mounted LCD projector, an automatic pull-down screen, and (2) mounted speakers.
  • A 4-channel audio mixer, and a microphone cable are located inside the multi-media lectern for use with sound request. Microphone(s) and additional cables will be provided when needed.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup if available.

McDowell Instruction Room - Library 3rd Floor

  • The McDowell Instruction Room has a multi-media lectern with DVD/VHS player, sound amplifier, desktop computer, Apple TV (for mirroring iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables for laptop computers, and document camera that can be access via a Crestron touch screen. The room also has a ceiling-mounted LCD projector, a pull-down screen, and ceiling speakers.
  • A 4-channel audio mixer is located inside the multi-media lectern for use with sound request. An attached microphone is located on the lectern.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup if available.

Outdoor Sound Setup

  • For setups at locations such as Martin Commons, and the Campus Green, we can provide our portable sound system. For tent setups, depending on the size, we can provide either a portable sound system or our outdoor sound equipment (Amplifier, Mixer, 2-4 Speakers).
  • For events such as Commencement, or large tent setups, an outside AV company is usually hired for the event.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be setup and/or delivered if available.

The following Multi-media equipment may be available (Quantities are limited):

The following is a list of sound equipment that Media Services can provide for Campus Events:

  • Portable PA System (Mixer/Amplifier with up to 2 speakers)
    • can use up to 5 microphones
    • contains audio input and/or Bluetooth capabilities for additional media (iPad, smartphones, etc.) 
    • some contain USB inputs
    •  can use for small tent or outdoor setups
  • Compact Portable Sound System
    • can use 1 microphone for each system (up to 4 microphones with mixer)
    • contain audio input for additional media (iPad, smartphones, etc.)
    • some contain Bluetooth capabilities, USB input, or SD card slot for additional media
  • Portable Lecterns w/ Microphone
  • 1 - 5 microphones and Microphone Stands (standing & table) for each event
    • Our microphones are used primarily for speaking . 
  • Wireless Microphone (Handheld and Lavalier)
    • wireless microphone use depends on availability, and time and location of event
  • Mobile sound equipment for the Kennedy Center (Amplifier, Audio Mixer, 2 Speakers with Stands)
