Classrooms and Spaces

Typical Classroom Media Setup

Most classroom facilities on campus (Bates, Colton, Gerstacker, Hinsdale, Nursing Suite (in Teachout Price), Mahan House, Tree House, Writing House, and Bonney Castle) are equipped with the following multi-media equipment.

  • Ceiling-mounted LCD projector or wall-mounted flat-screen TV
  • Multi-media station (cabinet, lectern, or desk)
  • Powered or pull-down projection screen (in classrooms with LCD projectors)
  • Crestron touchscreen control and processor
  • HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter), & network cables for laptop computer connection
  • Apple TV for mirroring Apple devices (iPad, MacBook, iPhone, etc.) to projection screen or flat-screen TV
  • Combination DVD & VHS player
  • Sound mixer, amplifier, and mounted speakers
  • Some classrooms are also equipped with a desktop computer and accessories (monitor, mouse, keyboard). 
  • Equipment can be provided in a few locations without media if available.

 

Alumni Heritage Room - Teachout Price

  • For sound requests, Media Services can provide either a portable PA system or a portable lectern.
  • The facility has a mobile multi-media cart with LCD projector, HDMI cable (for laptop computers) with Apple lightning & USB-C adapters, Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI bi-directional splitter (for switching between HDMI cable and Apple TV), DVD/VHS player, and two (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer, and a tripod screen on site.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

Coleman Center

  • The Team Meeting Room (located in Fleming Field House) has a multi-media station with Apple TV (for mirroring iPads), HDMI and VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables for laptop computers, Blu-Ray player, and audio system that can be accessed via a Crestron touchscreen. The room also has a ceiling-mounted LCD projector, a powered pull-down screen, and (2) mounted speakers.
  • For sound setups in the DiGirolamo Lobby area and smaller rooms in the building, a portable PA system or portable lectern can be used.
  • For sound setups in the Martin and Fleming Field Houses, other than a portable system, Media Services will attempt to provide an adequate sound system to meet the audio requirement for the room. Due to the difficult acoustics in each location, it is advised that an outside AV company is brought in to do the sound.
  • Price Gym has a self-contained PA system and speakers. In most cases, an additional PA setup is unnecessary.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

Dining Hall

  • For sound requests, Media Services can provide either a portable PA system or a portable lectern.
  • Private Dining Room One (1) has one (1) multi-media cabinet with Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables for laptop computers, DVD/VHS player, and an audio system with audio input and cable (for iPads, mp3 players, or smartphones) at the front of the room, which is accessed via a Crestron touchscreen. The room also has a powered pull-down screen, ceiling-mounted LCD projector, and ceiling speakers that carry throughout the four private dining room spaces.  All four (4) private dining room spaces can be opened to one (1) large room or separated into four (4) separate spaces.  Only Private Dining Hall Room One (1) has a built-in projector and screen, and multi-media system.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

Drury Hall - Bates 2nd Floor

  • Drury Hall has (3) mounted Large Screen monitors (one 80-inch Smart TV, and two 60-inch monitors), and (2) mounted speakers. The room also has a multi-media lectern, which contains attached HDMI and VGA (with audio adapter) cables for laptop computers, Apple TV (for iPads), and an HDMI bi-directional splitter (for switching between HDMI cable and Apple TV) The cables and monitors are accessed via a Crestron selection panel on the lectern.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

East Hall

  • The East Hall Forum room has Zoom Room capabilities with an integrated desktop computer and audio system. The room is equipped with a multi-media lectern, HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter), network cables (for laptop computers), DVD/VHS player, and an audio system that can be accessed via a Crestron touchscreen.
    • Two (2) ceiling-mounted LCD projectors, two (2) powered pull-down screens, two (2) mounted flat-screen TVs, four (4) Apple TVs, two (2) mounted speakers, and twenty-six (26) conference desk microphones.
    • Two (2) HD pan-tilt-zoom cameras face the instructor and students, and a touchscreen interface is used to control room cameras and microphones.
  • The small classroom has a multi-media cabinet with desktop computer, Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter), network cables for laptop computers, DVD/VHS player, and audio system that can be accessed via a Crestron touchscreen. The room also has a mounted flat-screen TV and (2) mounted speakers.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

Frohring Music

  • The Recital Hall in the Frohring Music building has good acoustics and sound reinforcement equipment isn’t needed for music and singing events. If a microphone is needed (for a speaker/presenter), Media Services can provide a portable PA system.
  • The building has two (2) mobile multi-media carts with LCD projectors, VGA (with audio adapter), and HDMI cables (for laptop computers), Apple TVs (for iPads), DVD/VHS players, and two (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer for use in the classrooms and Recital Hall. 

Gelbke Fine Art Center

  • The large lecture hall in the Gelbke Fine Arts Center has good acoustics, as well as a stereo sound system. A portable PA system can be provided if a microphone is needed.
  • The room also has a multi-media lectern with Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter) and network cables (for laptop computers), DVD/VHS player, Blu-Ray player, and document camera that can be accessed via the Crestron touchscreen. The room has a ceiling-mounted 4K LCD projector, two (2) touchscreen activated slide projectors, as well as an audio system cabinet and large mounted screen.

Hayden Auditorium

  • Hayden Auditorium has a portable PA system (located by the left side of the stage) with two (2) speakers on stands (on opposite ends at the back of the stage) set up for sound request; and one (1) mobile multi-media cart with LCD projector, VGA (with audio adapter) and HDMI cables (for laptop computers) with Apple lightning and USB-C adapters (for iPads) and a tripod screen (located behind the stage) that can be set up on the stage.
  • Media Services can provide a basic microphone setup (up to two (2) microphones) for lectures, and convocations in Hayden. For other sound requests, contact the following departments:
    • Music department
    • Theatre department
    • Office of Campus Involvement – H-Tech
    • Outside vendor
  • Media Services can provide additional multi-media equipment, although there may be difficulties setting it up due to the auditorium’s seating and configuration. It is necessary to contact us two (2) weeks to a month in advance for us to determine if Media Services can commit to meeting the request.

Kennedy Center

  • For sound requests, Media Services can provide either the building’s mobile sound equipment, a portable PA system, or a portable lectern.
  • The facility also has four (4) Tripod Screens, one (1) empty AV cart, two (2) mobile multi-media carts (with LCD or laser projector, HDMI cable with Apple-lightning and USB-C adapters, Apple TV, DVD/VHS player, and two (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer), and mobile sound equipment (amplifier, audio mixer, two (2) Speakers with Stands). One (1) mobile multi-media cart has a HDMI bi-directional splitter for switching between HDMI cable and Apple TV.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available. 

Koritansky Meeting Room - Koritansky Hall

  • The facility has a mobile multi-media cart with LCD projector, HDMI cable (for laptop computers) with Apple lightning & USB-C adapters, Apple TV (for iPads), HDMI bi-directional splitter (for switching between HDMI cable and Apple TV), DVD/VHS player, and two (2) multi-media speakers with subwoofer, and a tripod screen on site.
  • A portable PA system with two (2) speakers on stands is set up in the room for sound requests.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available. 

Pritchard Room - Library 2nd Floor

  • The Pritchard Room has a multi-media lectern with Apple TV (for mirroring iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter), network cables for laptop computers, DVD/VHS player, and an audio system that can be accessed via a Crestron touchscreen. The room also has a ceiling-mounted laser projector, an automatic pull-down screen, and two (2) mounted speakers.
  • The audio system has integrated wireless microphones (handheld and lavalier).
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

McDowell Instruction Room - Library 3rd Floor

  • The McDowell (BI) Instruction Room has a multi-media lectern with a desktop computer, Apple TV (for mirroring iPads), HDMI, VGA (with audio adapter), network cables for laptop computers, DVD player, and an audio system that can be accessed via a Crestron touch screen. The room also has a ceiling-mounted LCD projector, a pull-down screen, and ceiling speakers.
  • An attached microphone is located on the lectern.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

Library Lower Level Classroom Space

  • The classroom space located in the lower level of the library has a multi-media lectern with Apple TV (for mirroring iPads), HDMI (with Apple lightning & USB-C adapters) and network cables for laptop computers, Blu-Ray player, and an audio system that can be accessed via a Crestron touchscreen. The room also has two (2) 98-inch and one (1) 86-inch wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, and four (4) mounted speakers.
  • The audio system has integrated wireless microphones (handheld and lavalier).
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

Outdoor Sound Setup

  • For setups at locations such as Martin Commons, and the Campus Green, Media Services can provide a portable sound system.
  • For tent setups, depending on the size, Media Services can provide either a portable sound system or a basic sound setup (amplifier, mixer, two (2) to four (4) speakers).
  • For events such as Commencement, or large tent setups, an outside AV company is usually hired for the event.
  • Other multi-media equipment can be set up if available.

Available Media Materials and Equipment

The following multi-media equipment may be available (please note that quantities are limited):

  • LCD projectors
  • Laptop computers
  • Presentation remote control (for PowerPoint presentations)
  • Tripod screens
  • AV carts (empty)
  • Digital HD camcorders and tripods
  • DVD/VHS combination or separate players
  • LCD monitors
  • Apple TVs & Apple lightning, or USB-C adapters for iPads

The following is a list of sound equipment that Media Services can provide for campus events:          

  • Portable PA system (mixer/amplifier with up to two (2) speakers)
    • can use up to four (4) microphones
    • contains audio input and/or Bluetooth capabilities for additional media (iPad, smartphones, etc.)
    • some contain USB inputs 
    • can use for small tent or outdoor setups
  • Compact Portable Sound System
    • can use one (1) microphone for each system (up to four (4) microphones with mixer)
    • contains audio input for additional media (iPad, smartphones, etc.)
    • some contain Bluetooth capabilities, USB input, or SD card slot for additional media
  • Portable lecterns w/ microphone
  • One (1) to five (5) microphones and microphone stands (standing and tabletop) for each event
    • Media Services microphones are designed primarily for speaking, and not for singing
  • Wireless microphone (Handheld and Lavalier)
    • wireless microphone use depends on availability, time, and location of the event
  • Mobile sound equipment (amplifier, audio mixer, two (2) speakers with stands)
