Library Instruction

Librarians are happy to meet with your class to demonstrate how to use library resources. To schedule a session, email library@hiram.edu or fill out this form.

To ensure a successful session, especially for first-year classes, please:

  • Allow at least one week for preparation.
  • Provide a copy of the assignment and syllabus so we can tailor the lesson to your students.
  • Attend the session to answer questions and encourage student participation.

Research Guides

Librarians can create custom Research Guides for your class, especially for advanced or specialized courses.

These guides help students:

  • Navigate the library’s vast resources without feeling overwhelmed
  • Focus on resources, sources, and skills directly relevant to the assignment
  • Access curated tutorials and tips tailored to your course

For UCS 101 courses, students usually use the Research at Hiram Library Guide, which covers key research basics and information literacy skills.
